Men’s Jewelry Is Gaining Popularity
For many years it was believed that women should wear jewelry and men should not because jewelry was considered to be a very feminine thing. However, men that came from high society and had a lot of money started wearing jewelry, and in more recent years pop stars and rappers started wearing a lot of men’s jewelry, making it more accepted. Since this has been the case, men’s jewelry has become much more popular and more and more men are wearing jewelry of some kind, whether it is a ring (besides their wedding ring), a chain, a bracelet, or an earring.
Gold Jewelry for Men
Most of the men’s jewelry that is seen today, and that has been seen throughout time as well, has been gold men’s jewelry. Gold seems to be the most popular choice for men’s jewelry, most likely because of its expensive and classic look and because it gets noticed. There is a prestige issue involved for some men who want elegance that is polite and understated but that still gets easily noticed and recognized for what it is. Other men, such as those that work in the music business, are often seen wearing a lot of gold, both necklaces and rings, and the sole purpose of this appears to be to attract attention to how much gold there is and how much money it represents.
This is likely due to the nature of this type of business, however, and the kind of men’s jewelry that is expected from someone in that business. Gold also seems to be the best choice for men’s jewelry because there is just more of it available. Men’s jewelry that is something other than gold is not that easy to find with the exception of some specific items, and therefore gold is not only the ‘best’ choice for men’s jewelry, but it is apparently both the most popular and the most accessible.
Other Jewelry for Men
Not all men want gold jewelry, however. Because of this, there is some men’s jewelry – most notably wedding bands – that are being made in other metals. Other popular metals for men’s jewelry include silver, platinum, and titanium. Silver has been around for some time and is relatively inexpensive. Platinum generally symbolizes money and success, and therefore it is popular for status today, while titanium is also beginning to symbolize status but is well-liked for men’s jewelry mostly because of the fact that it is extremely lightweight and difficult to damage.
